ADHD Therapy for Women

ADHD in women is often missed, masked, or misread as anxiety or a character flaw. Therapy offers understanding, and strategies that actually fit how your mind works.

It isn't a motivation problem

Many high-achieving women reach adulthood before realizing that the effort it takes to keep up isn't something everyone else carries.

As an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (trained), I help women understand their executive-functioning profile, untangle years of shame and self-blame, and build systems that work with their brains rather than against them. Our work blends emotional support with concrete, realistic strategies for daily life.

  • Chronic overwhelm despite working twice as hard
  • Difficulty starting, switching, or finishing tasks
  • Time blindness and missed details at work or home
  • Emotional intensity and rejection sensitivity
  • Masking competence while feeling scattered inside
  • Shame from years of being told to 'just try harder'

Common questions about ADHD in adult women

How does ADHD show up differently in women?

Inattentive ADHD is often the more familiar picture in women: mental restlessness rather than visible hyperactivity, difficulty starting or finishing tasks, losing track of time, and exhaustion from holding it all together. Because the outside looks organized, many women are treated for anxiety or depression long before ADHD is considered.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. What now?

A late diagnosis often brings relief and grief at once. Therapy is a place to re-read your history through an accurate lens, release years of self-blame, and build routines, supports, and boundaries that fit how your attention actually works.

Do you provide ADHD testing or medication?

I don't provide formal assessments or prescribe medication. I offer therapy for the emotional and daily-life side of ADHD, and I'm glad to coordinate with your prescriber or point you toward evaluation options in Orange County.

Can ADHD symptoms change in perimenopause?

Many women notice focus, memory, and emotional regulation shift during perimenopause. We can work on both at once. See postpartum and perimenopause therapy.

Sessions are available in person in Tustin, near Irvine and greater Orange County, and online to residents anywhere in California.
